Koi Japanese Cuisine

Not a great Japanese experience. Food was prepared in a way that made it very basic and of poor quality. For example, the squid was tough and the tempura came off it in one piece, octopus balls were undercooked and contained no octopus pieces. I would not go again.

Binned it all and had toast instead. Never wasting my time or money on this place again. What Asian restaurant thinks that steamed rice with a bit of chicken chucked into it could pass for fried rice?? Absolute joke.

Had sushi, it was ok. Some were nicer than others. There was a lot of duck in the duck inside out rolls. It was a long wait for food as it was Friday night and only one chef working. Staff were polite but didn't get 20% off for take away which isn't correct. Maybe next time I'll try the restaurant as the smells coming from the kitchen were lovely.

Went here on a whim with my partner and we really enjoyed it! There was a good selection of vegetarian food for us (less than your average Sushi restaurant chain but plenty for the two of us). If we’re in the area we will definitely come again!

The first time I went, I saw that it was opened by a Japanese, and I had high expectations. I ordered some sashimi, sushi, tempura, soda. Except for sushi, it was okay, but the others were not very good. The sashimi was very thin, and the tempura was not loose. Crispy, not like the taste in Japan, the soda is even more non-steaming, the price is not cheap, the worst I have had in the UK.

I absolutely love this place, staff are lovely, food is AMAZING, price is really reasonable. It shocks me that it isn't more popular because it really is an amazing restaurant. You get absolutely loads for your money.

We love it here. Always bring the relatives when they come to visit. The sushi selection is great and is prepared at a bar in the middle of the restaurant, next time I must ask if I can go and watch. Really delicious food all around. We will be back soon

This was my favourite place to eat when I lived in Leigh - the veggie bento boxes are amazing and the staff are lovely! I just wish I didn't live so far away now :,( Honestly, it's hard to believe such a nice restaurant is in the middle of Leigh!

Dull and dated. Didn't really like it very much. Most things appear deep fried. Noodles looked like nothing special. Had the katsu chicken. For the price of nearly £12 was disappointing. Personally would not return in a hurry. Sorry about that.

Went for my son's 12th birthday meal - fabulous as always! His friends had never had Japanese food before but gave it a go. They also played happy birthday for him over the restaurant as he blew it his candles. Thank you ?

All sushi and sashimi dishes taste good and fresh especially the salmon ones The tempura and the calamari are pretty standard, not much of a surprise. For the mains, the spicy wafu udon is not very spicy and the texture of the udon is nicely done, not too soft not too hard. The katsu curry tastes amazing too. The pork is crispy and very tender with a little fat in it. There are onion and carrot that gives the curry a little sweetness. The one star off is basically for the options of sushi and sashimi is kinda limited. However, the quality is really great.

Walked over 25 minutes to get to this place based on the review's thought we'd give it a try. Pleasently surprised with the food, flavour of sauce is very strong and very nice crispy outer chicken. Just upset that whilst we were in the restaurant they were switching off the lights as if to say hurry up and get out. Otherwise definitely eat here decent portions and the staff who served us was very friendly.

Went for dinner with friends. Ordered each a bento box with different selections. Plus a bowl of sashimi to share! Love the freshness of the sashimi. This is definitely that needs to be shared with more people! Will recommend and come back again for food!

We love hanging out. Last night we went to this excellent place which friends recommended to us. We enjoyed a delightful time there with first-rate cooking and a professional team and an impressive chief cook. We added this restaurant in our phone list and we shall no doubt return very soon. We warmly recommend.

Absolutely fantastic; such a lovely gem in Leigh; true Japanese taste (I am Japanese and can tell most of the time if the dishes are made by different nationality) at reasonable price. The Bento boxes are the most value for money, but I'd strongly recommend you to try others - you wouldn't be disappointed!

Absolutely amazing food. My partner and I had the set meal for £28 and it's absolutely value for money. The food is quickly served and DELICIOUS. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Been there frequently. Food is always fresh and delicious. I recommend the bento set. Terriyaki chicken and avocado inside out rolls are my favourite. Edited: I've just been there on 4/7, and they reopen now! Gotta book in advanced to help them maintain social distance. Takeaway is also available.
