This used to be a superb Bank ,, Firstly the criteria to open a Bank account elsewhere is so stringent and difficult now - if like Me , no Picture identification apart from a disabled Bus pass with my name and up to date picture - forget it & so your stuck and at the mercy of declining customer service and a basic lack of willingness towards polite interaction and a hit and miss policy towards helpful service.
I was recently interrogated when I tried to withdraw a substantial sum of money from the counter ,, it’s my Money and I expect to do business freely without hassle , you could argue that their new Policy of screening for scams is sensible but let’s face it ,, it’s aimed at making things harder to withdraw your cash which I find frightening.
It’s not all bad ,, there’s the odd friendly face and kind word if you can get the attention of an operative for the lack of a better word. Hassled to use the Machines as you wait in the queue to get to the counter ,, lm 63 yrs old with a modicum of intelligence capable of making my own decisions for Heavens sake - will the Machines answer an enquiry ???.
It amuses me to watch their card machines spin around like a Time Machine on a countdown to nowhere for what seems forever when Banking at the Post Office , it takes seconds to process your card.
Though not alone in the Banking sector we are facing interest rates that are crippling mortgage holders and businesses but when does it get passed on to the hapless saver ?? , probably when Hell freezes over.
More of a rant possibly than a review but my latest interaction at this Bank left Me stressed confused , belittled and seething with anger. This is not an isolated incident and I avoid the place like the plague whenever possible however they provide a weekly text message service with your Balance which I find helpful ,, my advice would be to shop around for another Bank if you can find one ?? - incidentally the Manchester branch if it’s still there is WORSE !!!.

Rude staff on the front at the mobile banking desks, weren’t helpful at all ended up walking out and calling the call centre instead.

Excellent customer service at Leigh branch. Went in one day this week with a query. Received excellent advice from Bev who dealt with our query. Bev took us into her booth, explained a couple of options and it was sorted within minutes. Walked out very happy 😊 thanks Bev.

3 times my Grandma made the 18 mile Bus journey to this branch, wishing to make an international funds transfer for urgent medical fees to Australia .Only on the 3rd attempt and 5 WEEKS later!! did this incompetent lot get it right, after we pretty much spelled out of them. They tried to blame the Australian bank, but there was only one culprit all along. Surely this is a process they have done before, I mean how complex is it, isn't that what banks do??. They even had the nerve to charge multiple transfer fees. This has to be the most incompetent branch in the UK, hands down. This will go to head office
