Brilliant pub, staff are really friendly, it's a very clean pub with two small outdoor areas, food was delicious and large sized portions, I had mixed grill 😋 the meat melted in my mouth, highly recommend this pub is also kid friendly.

1 week agoThe amount of staff is too few for the size of venue. The impact being that there are many tables uncleaned, frustrated staff and dirty floors. Staff clearly do their best with what time they have.

4 weeks agoIt's an interesting place, lots of characters and I like sitting and enjoying a bit of a people watch I'm there. I stay in Leigh most months and like a walk to this bar for a bit of a change of scenery.

3 months agoQuite a while since I came to Leigh, after the very first time lockdown event [2020] and the enjoyment of a few time breakfast.

4 months agoSafe, lovely beers and a good atmosphere. Beer is still good. Staff are friendly and can't do enough for you. The real ale in recent weeks has taken a turn for the worse. Even the new bar refurbishment hasn't helped.

4 months agoThe food was just looking sad. The manager said whats wrong with it? I said look at it. She was clueless so asked for a refund. Not a great service.

5 months agoVery disappointed we have been regulars in this pub since it opened. We meet there every Friday at 8 and there can be up to 10 of us, we stay at least two hours. We are aged 66 to 75. Tonight after leaving to go to the pub next door we were refused entry at 12.25, the bar is open till1. The new doorman just refused to let us in. No real reason given. We want to know what is going on. If the rules have changed then we should have been told before we left earlier in the evening. It looks like we will have to take our custom elsewhere in future, unless someone with some common sense gets this sorted.

7 months agoFirst time we have been in here and it was excellent. Fantastic food, value for money and lovely relaxing atmosphere. Staff very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be going back regularly!

10 months agoNot the largest pub I've visited out of 389 in the JDW chain. Nicely decorated, including an impressive fireplace; small rear garden, and a good selection of ales. I had a Vanilla Mild, pizza with extra chillis and a hot chocolate for around £15. Pleasant service and polite clientele, creating a welcoming atmosphere. It's worth a visit if you're in the area or ticking off 'Spoons

10 months agoLove the view of this place! Love the fire place, very grand. Food was hot and bowl of chips was massive! (Was to me) and it was beer festival too!

11 months agoWent in for a post-Parkrun quick, cheap breakfast after Pennington Flash. Our group was given a bit of attitude by the serving staff, despite the fact we were actually buying a decent amount of food and I saw several people who were taking 4-6 person tables for one. The breakfasts were reported by the group as being cold and also 40 minutes late. Staff said there was an understaffing problem, but there was no proper apology or anything just attitude and rudeness. I’m a massive fan of Spoons for cheap brekkies and mornings post-PR but this is probably one of the worst I’ve been in. Would not recommend, there’s plenty of other pubs that do food in the area.

11 months agoI haven't been to the Thomas Burke for about 7 years, because the last time I was there it was not a pleasant place to spend any time and certainly not whilst in company with my wife!! Too many idiots and zero control!! Yesterday however, I was very pleasantly surprised to find the place has changed so much and so much for the better!! The surroundings are clean and bright. The carpets, tables and chairs are clean and fresh, not piled high with plates and glasses; and the clientele were happy and enjoying a "quiet" drink! On the subject of drinks, the wide selection of beers on tap is excellent, with some really nice craft beers and real ales as well as a good selection of lagers and cider. And the prices are ridiculous!! Averaging only about £2.50 a pint!! The "Full Whack" 6% abv was sublime! There's also a wide range of wines and spirits available and the staff are friendly and very helpful. Rachel, was particularly welcoming and watching her and the team working, it's no wonder the place is in such good shape. We didn't eat, but there is food available and this looked decent standard pub grub and looked and smelled great! All in all a wonderful surprise return! I will definitely be going back soon! Well worth a visit!!

1 year agoZero atmosphere, food is shocking and the staff well I don’t wish to comment. As a pub in the heart of Leigh you need to put yourself out there more, apart from cheap prices which attracts everyone I would rather pay that little bit more and have an atmosphere or at least allow the staff to talk to customers !

1 year agoCurrently in Thomas Burke been here an hour most tables have been left dirty with plats and food on not even busy 3 behind bar who do not want to clean. They have even turned APP of so they do not have to do drinks from it. Wheret the lazy manager to sort it

1 year agoGood food, clean and tidy. Friendly staff. Some rude and horrible customers bullied me from a table when I was waiting for my dad as he was ordering food and drinks

1 year agoGreat little Wetherspoons pub set in Leigh. The building is an old cinema and had the usual Wetherspoons charm. Food was good and staff were friendly. Very enjoyable visit

1 year agoPretty much the same as all other wetherspoons establishments. Cheap beer and cheap food. You pay for what you get. Don't moan if you're steak isn't cooked the way you asked it's a spoons for god's sake. You might see a lad called Big Dec. Steer well clear of him. You can't miss him his head is massive.

1 year agoI ordered porridge with strawberries. Porridge was cold and still tasted powdery as it hasn't been cooked long enough. Returned it to be put in the microwave, it was returned cooked and hot. Next problem.... strawberries had been either sliced with the same knife being used to slice onions or on the same chopping board as onions - all you could smell and taste was onions. How difficult is it to prepare packet porridge and to slice strawberries? ?

1 year agoHad a lovely Jalfrezi curry with Naan and freshly made poppadoms. ALSO a mixed grill. Excellent and good value for money with a free double brandy. Atmosphere was calm but with a slight buzz about it. Good mix of company. Excellent surroundings and the staff are fabulous, courteous, helpful and hardworking.

1 year agoReally nice. I visited in the day time, just after lunch and had a coffee. It has a very classy feel to it, somewhere to relax for while with a drink whether alone or with good company.

1 year agoThe burger arrived without the extras I paid for. Then asked for bacon and cheese, it arrived fresh from the fridge on a separate plate. Absolutely a joke.

1 year agoFifteen of us for breakfast this morning, didn’t let them know but we really should have done. Spoke to bar start Lucy, lovely girl seen her day before and she was lovely then, even though one cook on duty, breakfast and drinks served with a smile and hardly any waiting time. Great staff big thank you to Lucy and rest of team. You need to value your staff. Xxx

2 years agoI had the pasta Alfredo, it was enjoyable. Typical for a Wetherspoon's, nothing special but edible and fab for the price. Others at the table were all pleased, one person had steak, asked for medium rare and got medium rare.

2 years agoOrdered the char grilled chicken......it definitely was not char grilled. The food prices are ok, but the portion sizes seem to have gotten smaller. Can't complain about the drinks prices though :)

2 years agoSmashing people with a smile. Excellent ale, found an ale called Beer O clock here. Sensational. My only gripe, the horrific use deep fat fryers on the poppadoms .. they were slipping out my hands; I mentioned it, the lovely staff were only to happy to rectify .... Great spoons this one ... Well done!!

2 years agoBeer is served at ideal temperature, Abbott Ale, at an affordable price, £2.00 lower than where I live near to where Abbott is made. Perfectly cooked meal, again charged at an affordable price. Well done Tim Martin, thank you. ??

2 years agoReally nice! It's been years since I was in (living abroad and covid) but with sligh differences (menu and prices) it was still very pleasurable experience. A pity we can't smoke outside.

2 years agoVisited today for food. Very busy!! We waited a while for food but actually food was very good and hot. I don't mind waiting a little longer if food hot, as it should be.

2 years agoA typical Wetherspoons. Staff very friendly, beer excellent and great value. You get what you pay for in a Wetherspoons and the Tommy Burke is a very good example of this

2 years agoIt's a spoons and this one is in need of a revamp the chairs and floor are sticky dirty horrible the tables as in any spoons not cleared quickly or wiped the paintwork especially at the entrance is shabby and uninviting .. but having said that the service at the bar was good and as a real ale drinker the pint of beer I had was one of the best I've ever had in terms of quality so I had two ? so a quick revamp and more attentive floor staff Mr Martin please and it would be a good un

2 years agoI've popped in for breakfast and a brew & biscuits in the afternoon, for the last few days. The breakfast was nice, good value and not fatty. The staff I dealt with, I think it was Lucy and Danni, were exemplary, friendly, helpful, professional and nothing was a problem. A real commodity to Weatherspoons.

2 years agoA good Wetherspoon with nearby on-road parking. Leigh as a town is constantly improving. Friendly staff.
James Robinson
2 years agoVery grubby, tables left with dishes on them, the table which we were seated was covered with crumbs, not to mention the seats! when I was ordering our food and drinks at the bar I asked for a glass of wine, I was offered either medium or large by another young woman, not the person taking my order, the person who was actually taking my order answered for me!!!!! Extremely rude!
Helen Fulton
2 years agoAs always, great value for money and great choice of beer, but cleaning tables is not high on their agenda. Seems every JDW I pop into needs a deep clean!
Dave Stevens
2 years agoExcellent food well priced. No complaints ?

2 years agoNeeds a refresh and some of the seats are torn and stained, apart from that the food was lovely and the staff were brilliant

2 years agoOur usual place when we visit Leigh for breakfast, quick and efficient service. The staff are friendly and professional, face masks worn. The only thing slightly negative were the ladies toilets, I did speak with the Manager about this on my way out. The seal around the bottom of the porcelain need's reapplying, it looked old and tired. No further negatives observed. Thank you to the staff on duty today.

3 years agoOther than Oban ,this is the best wetherspoons , probably better as not as busy and very friendly local people. Well arranged , adequate ammenities ,good indoor and outdoor seating . Food is good and served with a smile ?

3 years agoDrinks were great, however there was a bone in the chicken burger and the bun was extremely dry. Didn't bring it up to staff as they were rather understaffed & busy while still providing great service

3 years agoIs £9.70 too much to pay for lunch with food brought to your table ? At Wetherspoons the Thomas Burke today I ordered Wiltshire ham 2 fried eggs and chips and J20 passion fruit and orange. For 2 people! For just £9.70 = £4.85 each Amazing Value! The ham were 2 lean slices and the eggs were good and hot as where the chips. 10/10 for quality service and value.

3 years agoProper Lancashire Wetherspoons this one. Real Lancs folk and a few odd'uns. Situated in a town with some great Indian food as well. A good balanced night out.
