Whoever is the operations manager for this college should be embarrassed. Whilst we appreciate there are 100's of pupils- All the literature claims they encourage communication with parents/ pupils yet when you ask very simple questions over the phone they huff & puff & say " they dont take calls". How the he ll are we suposed to get answers from the relevant department then!? . If youre so busy - take on more staff to cope its not rocket science. The last receptionist kept hanging up ?Over email they won't get back to you for days & in person they don't have the answer or blame " new systems". Enrolment was chaotic & disorganised . We had an awful woman who asked my child a question she was unsure of & she said '"its not a trick question " sarcastically.. The website needs a huge improvement to actually inform you about everything that may apply to you once you're at the college. The site often crashes & some of the info isn't up to date or it's vague . No one seems to know what they're doing & just muddle through like they probably have for years with no accountability. How can parents or pupils " work" with you when you are obnoxious, unhelpful & ignorant. My child enjoys the course & has been assertive in asking for help with head of studies who were rude & dismissive. Disgusting behaviour towards new starters.

John is an excellent teacher who goes above and beyond for his students. Learnt a lot and really enjoyed being in his class. Met lovely students who turned into great friends. Had an amazing experience at Wigan. Would highly recommend John and Wigan and Leigh College.

awful place. made my child cry. went for a music interview and didn’t even give them time to do the things they were told. extremely unprofessional. rushed. teachers are cruel and expect professional quality from a child. would not recommend

Not a positive experience. Applied for a job position in early 2022 (feb). Heard in the October they'd received my application and then nothing was mentioned or apologised for the long wait, was offered remote interview and then onsite interview and removed sending the remote offer and then asked ME why I wanted a remote based interview. Yet had themselves taken 8 months and I should be the one asking the "why"
Thankfully already secured a position!

Extremely supportive A Level staff. A big thanks to you all who helped and supported us (and still are) during our current circumstances. I can't thank you all enough, for helping my son in many ways.

Absolutely fantastic this college, I’ve studied maths and English here, and I can’t thank the staff, tutors and other mentors enough, they have all done so much for me and to have that belief of me actually passing my courses is just amazing

This college can’t even keep their own proper records and incessantly email me about my children attending. Not only do I not have children, I live 400 miles away. Despite endless messages asking them to remove me from their subscription list, it goes ignored and I continue to be pestered on a regular basis. How they can claim to teach anyone when they themselves are quite inept is beyond me.

to be honest, it’s a great college. Amazing even, got me to uni and helped a lot. However, I would avoid the Media department like the plague; that part could do with new staff. One teacher there, Natasha Hart is a complete weirdo. Started crying when some students decided to leave cause she was more than 15 minutes late to class, only to say she was right next door lol. Could’ve told the students, doesn’t take 5 seconds. I’ve heard another story about how to said a student threw a chair at her but that was a lie. She’s very controlling and cries when students stick up for themselves.

Wigan and Leigh college is simply a Business first college second establishment who simply need bums on seats to make every class viable and no real effort is made if students are on a course that a future apprenticeship requires them to have an equivalent maths English c grade or above in older gcse grades and although on full time attendance they provide tuition for maths and English the teachers are from an agency and virtually every week there is a different teacher making progress very difficult with them not knowing where the pupil is at properly . Do yourself a favour go to any other college outside of Wigan borough as they are terrible ! Only when I left to another college that I progressed and continued with out problems to complete my apprenticeship which I was struggling to even get to level 1 with Wigan due to the above issues and even the assessors failing to visit me enough times at work to complete my required units towards my apprenticeship. If you complain they have this slimey man who’s job is to protect the college not help you ! All in all a total waste of time ….. believe me if your having problems leave Wigan and go to any nearby one like Bolton Warrington St. Helens and see the difference you will flourish with the support they provide with out the failures of Wigan business first college !

I would highly avoid studying at this college, I should of posted this sooner but never found the time. 3 years ago I was once a student here studying Health and Social level 1 and childcare level 1.
Health and social was good but not the best, then when I studied childcare as they said my health and social grades wasn't good which prevented me from progressing. During childcare i received high levels of bullying and also got homophobicaly attacked by a so called friend at the time. When the college found out very little action was taken against the bullys which means they have no bullying policy what's so ever. The a few weeks later I was being talked about in class and when I attempted to defend myself they sent me out of class to go and see the head of the course and I was suspended then excluded by the heads of the course who was present at the time, but the bullys was still allowed to study there?? awful place I'm so glad I've moved on to a new environment who treat me alot better than this place did.

At the beginning of the year at the college I had really looked forward to my course and was really disappointed after the first couple of months. Some times the staff would just turn up late or decide to go for wonders during lessons. We then came to see their true colours and how fake their attitudes were. at points they made us come in on our days off to then turn up for 5 minutes not even set any work and then wonder off out of the classroom and leave us there for up to an hour. I didn't find many of the tutors to be helpful and some of the teaching assistants we had even felt the same as us. We were fed up of the way they was. Im pretty sure it was a group of 16 of us to which only a 2 or 3 decided to continue with the course and a few even decided to leave the college. Wouldn't recommended this place to anyone, very run down building with very hot classroom with only a couple of them having air con that works or even having Aircon fitted.

meeh, its ok to get certificates and stuff, but this really shows how much a certificate to get a job is a pointless formality... you dont learn anything here, i wouldnt rate it any stars at all for the sake of being a place of education because you dont be educated or learn anything here, you sign papers and listen to someone speak a bit all for the sake of signing off tick lists to get a certificate you wanted. this is not education.... and our certificate focused culture is going to be the reason why the entire west will have a massive decline in intelligence
and in defence of the place though, looking at the other reviews though "you should already know this" id say the teacher is right... because they dont teach you anything here, so you really should already know everything because nothing is complex here, its just a case of signing off forms and signing that you have listened to a teacher speak on something. if you dont know something here then im sorry to say the teacher is right, you should already know, because they dont take you through anything complex, so the student in that case is thick, for there is nothing challenging here, there is no real education or learning, its just signing forms, if the student doesnt know something its because they wasnt listening and its something very basic and yes they should already know that and they are a bit thick and yet this college will still allow them to sign the paper and get the certificate despite them proving that they are very thick. the state of the education system is shocking, no wonder we have children leaving school these days without the ability to read or write... they should know how to read and write, and they will be the types that the teachers say "you should already know this to" lol they are right though, you should know basic stuff, if you dont know basic things then your high school you need to put a bad review in for because they havent taught you basic entry level knowledge you should already know

Amazing College in providing the education, I found that mentors and faculty members are really knowledgeable and interactive. I did Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management in Marketing where I studied Digital Marketing. I developed confidence with the assessments and projects they provide. I used to have class from Netherlands, Germany, London, and India.

I've only done one year so far and at the beginning of the year I was really enjoying it but we got a new teacher and any time you feel like you're doing good, he puts you down. It just isn't a nice environment anymore I don't enjoy going here anymore, can't wait to leave next year.
Although I have met amazing people, and made fantastic friendships ☺️ that's probably the one good thing to come from this college.
