We used to live in Leigh, moved back home few years ago, I still visit to see friends, been recently to the town centre and Spinning gate, town is pretty horrible, grim and feels unsafe in my opinion, always has, but the market is pretty good, it’s traditional and full of stalls, leading into Spinning gate, which in all fairness for a small town is nice, clean, units occupied, a good variety of shops from B&m to Roman, it’s really very varied and worth a visit for a small shopping centre, I think with the cafes, shops and market attached it’s an afternoons worth, my suggestion is park on the shopping centre car park, that way you avoid the town centre, and see the better side of Leigh, with Tesco, eating outlets and sports direct opposite too, full marks to the shopping centre management, clearly determined to keep this centre up and coming👏👏

Nice little shopping centre. Clean and I didn't notice any empty units. Loads of coin operated rides and sweet machines for the children. Leads into the indoor market, which was also good.

Very rarely go to town centre. Went to day to find the council have doubled the car park price. All to experience crumbling buildings discount or vacant shops and over zelus carpark attendants

Excellent, the reception Geraldine very helpful and friendly, she always smiles and offer me a drinking chocolate every time I went to the showroom.
I changed my BM with Craig Beaumont, everything perfect, I know Craig for a long time, I would highly recommend him to anyone who is looking to buy a BMW.
Craig is honest and trustworthy.

Feels quite empty since Argos moved and they let the book exchange go in favour of some enterprise that has failed to materialise. Such a shame as it used to feel fairly vibrant and the exchange was a much appreciated community hub

Not been here for years and a lot of changes have taken place, different shops etc however, a good experience with polite stallholders trying to make a living where I believe in supporting your local businesses and community.

Friendly members of staff. Clean. Neat.
It has many convenient businesses and cafes including Costa by the exit towards the bus station.
The toilet is only available at the Tesco Extra which is just outside, 5min walking.

On 15th may my autistic son was visiting the centre he had his bike with him my phone rang my son was screaming and crying I'm being mugged I was shouting were are you I'll ring 999 but his phone rang off my stress levels going through the roof a security officer told him to get of his bike he said I'm not riding it just use bike bar to walk it through to the other side the security officer said I'll knock you to the floor my son said I don't feel safe as Im autistic then threw him down to the ground with his bike on top of him police arrive and security man he was laughing and saying I'll get your bike took of ya the there were a crowd by this time he was still annoying my son.didn't helping one bit. police told the security man go for a walk and reluctantly went. police calmed my son done and spoke to his uncle and asked him could you take him home I was at the hospital at Blackpool so I couldn't be there to help my son. there were to security men one was nice and polite the bigger one was targeting Disabled people so watch out

I always find it sad when I see the decline in local shopping with shoppers utilising supermarkets and retail parks rather than doorstep businesses.
Spinning Gate Shopping Centre is a clean (inside) centre with very polite staff who are always happy to help. There are many empty retail units highlighting the decline.
My major critique is that when you enter the centre by the bus station entrance, you are confronted by scores of smokers congregating around the doors. It literally takes your breath away, trying to get inside the shopping centre. Surely, as an establishment, there should be perimeters for where smokers stand?
My other critique is the drug users sitting at either entrance trying to scam money for their next fix. Everybody knows who they are and if they are around crime will inevitably follow, yet they are allowed into the building passing through without a care, when I was there one was scamming ithin the double doors.
Come on, Spinning Gate, make your premises appealing to us to use

Lovely and clean, pretty quiet, so loads of space. Right next to the market and always parking spaces available. I would rather drive to here than go to Wigan, which is on my doorstep.

Went in to do a little bit of shopping with my 4 month old son and my mother. Had the pleasure of seeing santa. The centre arranged for santa to be there from 12:30-16:30 and completely free. Nice little photo opportunity and a memory I will keep for my son. Thank you

Was a Sunday when I visited so was very quiet, which personally I prefer. On the plus side it’s clean bright and warm and as the Town Centre has not got a great deal to offer these days the Shopping Centre during the week especially when the indoor Market is open you could say it’s the one stop shopping place in Leigh to go.

A few good shops, from clothing to tech. Has plenty of pay and display parking. For disabled the parking is charged for 1 hour with a further 2 hours free. The mall is accessible and has 2 entrances into the market, all of which are also accessible. Sadly, there are only 2 disabled toilets in the town, one on the Spinningate car park and the other at the bus station.... If you need a disabled toilet then it is not possible to use the one on the car park at weekends as this is locked up!! The one at the bus station has been locked for weeks for 'essential maintenance'!! So shopping in Leigh is a definite no no if you are disabled unless you shop Mon-Fri and are lucky enough to find the accessible toilets actually open!!

First impressions okay ish, but like most shopping centre's.not much retail choice.
Overall okay ish.
It was clean and tidy on my visit and like me you could do most of your shopping there, but like I always comment on my feed back Google maps visit. I can only give my honest opinion.
Visit Leigh town yourself and you probably say the same as me. Maybe?
In all the shops I went into I was greeted with friendly faces by the shops assistant's and when I asked for general queries, they did help me professionally.

Times are tough. Great for charity shops with their bargains. Some decent fruit and veg shops also as well as the flourishing market stalls selling arts and crafts behind the main shopping area which deserve support.

Super shopping centre, visit often the clothes shops, I. e. Roman, Peacocks & Bon Marche, who all have something different to offer. Several good card shops and stationers. The indoor markets attached, love having a stroll round here, reminds me of long ago days, visiting Cross Lane Market, sad that's no longer there.

I loved the place!. Let me start by saying there isn't an easily accessible toilet there so that was a downturn for me. But besides that, I loved the place. There were lots of seats around, a huge clothe store at affordable price, farmfood store selling products at good prices and the main market asides other lovely little stores. I bought a custard pie off a bakery store just on the left of the first entrance to the market and I haven't forgotten how amazing the pie was! Go spinning gates!!!
